How to Cancel or Return Your Breez Rental Early

Need to end your rental before the term is over? Whether you're canceling before delivery or returning early after receiving your items, Breez offers flexible options to accommodate your situation. This guide explains everything you need to know about cancellations, early terminations, refund eligibility, and the different options available to you.

Understanding Your Situation

Your options depend on whether your order has been delivered:

Before Delivery (Full Refund Window)

If your order hasn't been delivered yet OR is scheduled 24+ hours from now, you're in the Full Refund Window. You can cancel for a 100% refund of all charges.

After Delivery (Early Termination)

If your order has been delivered, you have multiple options for returning early. Refund amounts depend on how much of the rental term has passed.

How to Cancel or Return Early

Step 1: Access Your Account

  • Log in to your Breez account at gobreez.com
  • Navigate to My Account

Step 2: Find Your Order

Locate the order you want to cancel or return. Depending on your order status, you'll see one of these buttons:

  • "Cancel order (or items)" - If your order hasn't been delivered yet
  • "Return rental(s) early" - If your order has already been delivered

Step 3: Select Your Reason

Choose the reason that best describes your situation. The available reasons differ based on whether you're canceling or returning early.

Cancellation Reasons (Before Delivery)

If you're canceling before your order is delivered, you can select from these reasons:

  • Changing room - Moving to a different dorm or residence hall
  • Changed my mind - No longer want the rental
  • Found a better price elsewhere - Found a cheaper option
  • Ordered by mistake - Accidental order
  • No longer need the items - Circumstances changed
  • Delivery time too long - Can't wait for scheduled delivery
  • Other reason - Something else not listed

Early Termination Reasons (After Delivery)

If you're returning your rental early after delivery, you can select from these reasons:

  • Changing room - Moving to a different dorm (see Relocation Guide for staying on campus)
  • Item(s) not working properly - Having issues with your rental (see Troubleshooting Guide first)
  • Transferring to another school - Leaving for a different university
  • Graduating early / Leaving school - Finishing studies ahead of schedule
  • Moving off campus - Relocating to off-campus housing
  • Other reason - Something else not listed

Early Termination Options

After delivery, you have four options for ending your rental early:

Option 1: Transfer to Roommate (FREE)

  • Cost: No additional charge
  • How it works: Your roommate or a friend takes over the rental agreement
  • Best for: When you're leaving campus but someone else can use the rental
  • What Breez does: We transfer the rental to the new person's account
  • Requirements: The new renter must be a student at the same school. See the Transfer Guide for detailed step-by-step instructions.

Option 2: Keep Until End of Term (FREE)

  • Cost: No additional charge
  • How it works: You're simply notifying us of your situation, but want to keep the rental until the scheduled end date
  • Best for: Letting us know about changes without needing early pickup
  • What Breez does: We note your situation in our records; no action needed

Option 3: Next Pickup Schedule (FREE)

  • Cost: No additional charge
  • How it works: Our team picks up your rental during our next scheduled visit to your campus
  • Best for: When you're flexible on the exact pickup date
  • What Breez does: We add your pickup to our next campus route
  • Timeline: Usually within 1-2 weeks, depending on campus schedule

Option 4: Express Pickup ($50)

  • Cost: $50 one-time fee
  • How it works: Schedule a specific pickup date that works for you
  • Best for: When you need the rental picked up by a certain date
  • What Breez does: We arrange a dedicated pickup at your requested time
  • Requirements: You must be flexible within a 2-hour pickup window

Understanding Refunds

Your refund amount depends on when you cancel or return early.

Full Refund Window (Before Delivery)

If you cancel while in the Full Refund Window, you receive a 100% refund of all charges.

You're in the Full Refund Window if:

  • Your order hasn't been delivered yet, OR
  • Your scheduled delivery is 24+ hours away

After Delivery Refunds

Once your order has been delivered, refunds are calculated differently:

Important: 50% of your rental fee is non-refundable after delivery. This covers the cost of delivery, installation, and end-of-term pickup services that have already been arranged.

The remaining 50% (the refundable portion) is prorated based on when you return early.

Academic Year Rentals

Return Before Refund of Unit Portion (50%)

After November 15 0%

Note: Academic Year orders cannot convert to single semester rentals after September 15.

Fall Semester Rentals

Return Before Refund of Unit Portion (50%)

Spring Semester Rentals

Return Before Refund of Unit Portion (50%)
February 15 100%
March 15 50%
After March 15 0%

Example: If you paid $200 for an Academic Year rental and return before September 15:

  • Non-refundable portion (delivery/installation/pickup): $100
  • Refundable portion: $100 x 100% = $100 refund

Example: If you return the same rental between September 16 - October 15:

  • Non-refundable portion: $100
  • Refundable portion: $100 x 75% = $75 refund

What Happens After You Submit

  • Confirmation: You'll see a success message confirming your request was received
  • Ticket Created: A support ticket is automatically created for our customer service team
  • Status Update: Your order will show the appropriate status change
  • Team Review: Our team reviews your request and:
    • Cancellations: We process your refund within 5-7 business days
    • Transfer requests: We contact you and the new renter to complete the transfer
    • Pickup requests: We schedule your pickup and send confirmation details
  • Completion: Once processed, you'll receive email confirmation with any applicable refund information

Frequently Asked Questions

Just changing rooms on campus?

If you're moving to a different dorm but staying at the same school, you may not need to return your rental! Check the Relocation Guide to update your address or request help moving your rental to your new room.

Is your item broken or not working?

Before requesting early termination, check the Troubleshooting Guide. Many issues can be resolved quickly, and we offer free replacements for defective units.

Can I cancel my early termination request?

Yes, if your request hasn't been processed yet. Submit a support ticket through the General Support Tickets Guide as soon as possible. For urgent requests, email support@gobreez.com.

How long do refunds take to process?

Refunds are typically processed within 5-7 business days after your request is approved. The refund will appear on the original payment method used for the order.

What if I chose the wrong option?

Submit a support ticket immediately, or email support@gobreez.com for urgent changes. If your request hasn't been processed, we can update it for you.

I want to change my order instead of ending it. What should I do?

If your order has not been delivered, cancel the order (or specific items) and place a new order with the correct selections. If your order has already been delivered, contact support to review what changes are possible.

Can I return just one item from my order?

Yes, if you ordered multiple items, you can choose to return specific items while keeping others. Select "Cancel order (or items)" and choose which items to return.

What if someone else is taking over my rental?

Choose the "Transfer to Roommate" option. The new renter will need to create a Breez account and accept the transfer. They'll take over the rental agreement for the remainder of the term. See the Transfer Guide for the complete process.

Do I need to clean the rental before pickup?

Please empty and defrost mini fridges before pickup. Remove all personal items. The unit should be accessible for our team to retrieve.
