When is my unit picked up, and how do I schedule it?
Units are picked up directly from the student's room at the end of the rental term. This date is coordinated with the school, typically within two weeks before exams. Pickup instructions and schedules will be emailed before the term ends and posted in your My Account dashboard. You do not need to schedule pickup separately-just follow the instructions provided.
What are the cleaning requirements before pickup?
Your rental must be unplugged, fully defrosted, and completely dried before pickup. Follow these steps:
- Remove all contents and personal items
- Defrost the freezer completely
- Clean all shelves, interior walls, door storage areas, and gaskets
- Wipe down the exterior, handles, and power cord
- Leave fridge and freezer doors open for airflow
Important: Never use bleach or harsh chemical cleaners-use only mild cleaning solutions, disinfecting wipes, or warm soapy water.
What happens if I don't clean before return?
If you did not purchase the Return Cleaning Service and the unit is returned without proper cleaning, a $50 cleaning fee will be charged.
What if I move out before the scheduled pickup date?
If you need to leave campus before the scheduled pickup date, you have several options:
- Keep Until End of Term (FREE) - Leave the unit in your room for scheduled pickup
- Next Pickup Schedule (FREE) - We add your pickup to our next campus route
- Express Pickup ($50) - Schedule a specific pickup date that works for you
Important: Even if you leave early, you must still follow all cleaning requirements to avoid additional fees.
What is the Express Pickup option?
Express Pickup costs $50 and allows you to schedule a specific pickup date that works for you. This is best when you need the rental picked up by a certain date. You must be flexible within a 2-hour pickup window. To request Express Pickup, go to My Account and click "Return rental(s) early."
What fees apply for late returns?
A $50 fee applies for returning the unit after the scheduled pickup date. If our team cannot retrieve the unit after two pickup attempts, you may be billed the full replacement cost ($250-$750).
Do I need to be present for pickup?
No, you don't need to be physically present for pickup. However, you must ensure:
- The unit is cleaned and ready for pickup
- Your room is accessible for our team
- All personal items have been removed from the unit
Leave the unit in your room and our team will retrieve it during the scheduled pickup window.
What if the pickup team can't retrieve my unit?
If the pickup team cannot access your unit (locked room, unit not in room, etc.), they will make a second attempt. Units not retrieved after two attempts may be billed at full replacement cost ($250-$750). Contact support immediately if you have concerns about accessibility.
