How to Transfer Your Breez Rental to Another Student

Leaving campus but want to help out a friend or roommate? You can transfer your Breez rental to another student at no cost to either party. The new renter takes over your rental for the remainder of the term. This guide explains how to transfer your rental and what the recipient needs to do to accept it.

When Can I Transfer My Rental?

You can transfer your rental if:

  • Your order status is active - Order is in "processing" or "on-hold" status
  • All items have been delivered - Transfer is only available after delivery
  • No transfer is already in progress - You can only have one active transfer at a time

Note: The recipient must be a student at the same school. They'll keep your current residence hall and room information, but can request a relocation after the transfer is complete.

How Transfers Work

The transfer process involves two people:

Sender (You) Generate a transfer link and share it with the recipient
Recipient Open the link, provide their information, verify email, and accept

The recipient pays nothing. A 100% discount is automatically applied to the new order.

For Senders: How to Start a Transfer

Step 1: Access Your Order

  • Log in to your Breez account at gobreez.com
  • Navigate to My Account
  • Find the order you want to transfer

Step 2: Generate a Transfer Link

  • Click the "Transfer your rental" button next to your order
  • A modal will appear with your unique transfer link
  • Copy the link

Step 3: Share the Link

Send the transfer link to the person who will take over your rental. You can share it via:

  • Text message
  • Email
  • Any messaging app

Important: The transfer link expires after 3 days. If it expires, you can generate a new one.

For Recipients: How to Accept a Transfer

Step 1: Open the Transfer Link

Click the link you received from the person transferring their rental to you.

Step 2: Review the Order

You'll see complete details about what you're receiving:

  • Order number and school information
  • All items included (mini fridge, microwave, etc.)
  • Current delivery location (residence hall and room)
  • Original order total (crossed out - you pay $0)

Review everything carefully before continuing.

Step 3: Provide Your Information

Personal Information (Required)

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Email Address
  • Phone Number
  • Student ID

University Information (Pre-filled)

  • School/University (from original order)
  • Residence Hall (from original order)
  • Room Number (from original order)

Note: The residence hall and room are carried over from the original order. If you need the rental in a different location, you can request a relocation after the transfer is complete.

Terms

  • You must accept the Terms & Conditions to continue
  • Marketing communications are optional

Step 4: Verify Your Email

  • After submitting your information, you'll receive a 6-digit verification code via email
  • Enter the code in the verification screen
  • You have 15 minutes to enter the code before it expires
  • If you don't receive the code, click "Resend Code"

Step 5: Transfer Complete!

Once verified, the transfer is complete:

  • A new order is created in your name
  • The rental items are marked as delivered to you
  • You'll be automatically logged in to your new Breez account
  • Click "Go to My Account" to view and manage your rental

What Happens After a Transfer

For the Original Renter (Sender)

  • Your order is marked as completed
  • You receive an email confirming the transfer
  • You're no longer responsible for the rental
  • The items are marked as picked up from your order

For the New Renter (Recipient)

  • A new order is created in your name with $0 total (100% discount)
  • All rental items are marked as delivered to you
  • You can manage your rental from My Account
  • You're responsible for the rental for the remainder of the term
  • You can request a relocation if you need to move the items

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I transfer to someone at a different school?

No, transfers are only available within the same school. The recipient must be a student at the same university as your original order.

Does the recipient have to pay anything?

No. A 100% discount is automatically applied. The transfer is completely free for both parties.

Can the recipient change the delivery location?

The transfer uses your current residence hall and room information. After the transfer is complete, the recipient can request a relocation to update their address.

What if the transfer link expires?

You can generate a new transfer link at any time by clicking "Transfer your rental" on your order again.

Can I cancel a transfer after generating the link?

Yes, as long as the recipient hasn't completed the transfer. Simply let them know not to use the link. After 3 days, the link expires automatically.

What if the recipient doesn't receive the verification email?

They should:

  • Check their spam/junk folder
  • Wait a few minutes and try again
  • Click "Resend Code" on the verification screen
  • If still having issues, contact support via General Support Ticket

Can I transfer my rental back to myself?

No, you cannot transfer to your own email address. The recipient must have a different email than the original order.

What happens to protection plans or add-ons?

All items in your order, including protection plans, are transferred to the new renter.

I'm the recipient - can I relocate after accepting?

Yes! After the transfer is complete, you can request a relocation to move the rental to your room. Choose "Self-Service" (free) if you'll move it yourself, or "Assisted Relocation" ($50) if you need our team to handle it.

What if there's an issue with my transferred rental?

Use the Troubleshooting Guide to diagnose and resolve common problems. If the issue persists, you can create a support ticket.
