Understanding Your Breez Rental Agreement

Looking to cancel your contract, void your lease, or end your rental agreement? You're in the right place. This guide explains how your Breez rental works and walks you through the correct process based on your situation.

How Your Rental Works

When you place an order with Breez, you're entering a term-based rental agreement for the period you selected at checkout:

  • Fall Semester - Delivery at move-in, pickup at end of fall term
  • Spring Semester - Delivery at spring move-in, pickup at end of spring term
  • Academic Year - Delivery at fall move-in, pickup at end of spring term

Your rental includes delivery directly to your room at the start of the term and pickup from your room at the end. End-of-term pickup is automatic and coordinated with your school — you do not need to cancel or take any action for your rental to end on schedule.

Cancel Before Delivery

If your order has not been delivered yet, you can cancel for a 100% refund:

  1. Log in at gobreez.com and go to My Account
  2. Find your order and click "Cancel order (or items)"
  3. Select your reason and confirm
  4. Your refund is processed automatically

Student Leaving at End of Semester

If the student is leaving at the end of the rental term, no cancellation is needed. End-of-term pickup is automatic:

  • Pickup is coordinated with your school, typically within two weeks before exams
  • Instructions are emailed before the term ends and posted in My Account
  • Just make sure the unit is cleaned, defrosted, and accessible (see cleaning requirements below)

You do not need to cancel, call, or submit any request — your rental ends automatically at the end of the term.

Student Leaving Before the Term Ends

If the student needs to leave before the rental term is over, you have several early return options. Go to My Account and click "Return rental(s) early" to get started:

Need Pickup on a Specific Date

Express Pickup ($50) lets you schedule a specific pickup date:

  1. Log in at gobreez.com and go to My Account
  2. Click "Return rental(s) early" next to your order
  3. Select Express Pickup and choose your preferred date
  4. You must be flexible within a 2-hour pickup window

Standard end-of-term pickup is free and automatic. Express Pickup is only needed if you require a specific date outside the normal pickup schedule.

End-of-Term Pickup: What to Expect

End-of-term pickup is coordinated with your school and happens automatically:

  • Timing: Varies based on your academic term
  • Notification: Instructions are emailed before the term ends and posted in My Account
  • Your responsibility: The unit must be unplugged, fully defrosted, completely dried, and cleaned before pickup
  • Presence: You do not need to be in the room — just make sure the unit is ready and the room is accessible

Cleaning Requirements

Before any pickup (end-of-term or early return):

  • Remove all contents and personal items
  • Defrost the freezer completely
  • Clean all shelves, interior walls, door storage areas, and gaskets
  • Wipe down the exterior, handles, and power cord
  • Leave fridge and freezer doors open for airflow
  • Use only mild cleaning solutions — never bleach or harsh chemicals

A cleaning fee applies if the unit is returned without proper cleaning (unless you purchased the Return Cleaning Service).

Refunds When Ending Early

Refund amounts depend on when you end your rental:

  • Before delivery: 100% refund of all charges
  • After delivery: 50% of your rental fee is non-refundable (covers delivery, installation, and pickup — the DIP fee). The remaining 50% is prorated based on when you return.

For example, a $200 Academic Year rental returned before September 15 would receive a $100 refund ($100 DIP fee is non-refundable, $100 unit portion refunded at 100%).

How to End Your Rental

Before Delivery

  1. Log in at gobreez.com and go to My Account
  2. Click "Cancel order (or items)"
  3. Select your reason and confirm
  4. Refund is processed automatically (100%)

After Delivery

  1. Log in at gobreez.com and go to My Account
  2. Click "Return rental(s) early"
  3. Select your reason
  4. Choose your preferred option (Transfer, Keep, Next Pickup, or Express Pickup)
  5. Review and submit
  6. Our team will process your request and follow up

At End of Term

No action required. Pickup is automatic and coordinated with your school. Just make sure the unit is cleaned and accessible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I cancel my rental contract?

Yes. If your order hasn't been delivered, cancel through My Account for a 100% refund. If it has been delivered, you can return early through the "Return rental(s) early" option in My Account. Your rental also ends automatically at the end of the term with no action needed.

Can I void my lease or rental agreement?

Breez rentals are term-based agreements, not traditional leases. You can cancel before delivery for a full refund, or return early after delivery using the options above. The agreement cannot be "voided," but you can end it early at any time through My Account.

Do I need to cancel at the end of the semester?

No. End-of-term pickup is automatic and coordinated with your school. You do not need to cancel, call, or submit any request. Just clean the unit and leave it accessible. Instructions will be emailed and posted in My Account.

What happens if I just leave without doing anything?

If you leave without cleaning the unit, a $50 cleaning fee applies. If the unit is not accessible for pickup, our team will attempt a second visit. Units not retrieved after two attempts may be billed at full replacement cost ($250-$750). As long as the unit is clean and accessible, pickup will happen automatically.

My parent/guardian wants to cancel the contract. How do they do that?

The account holder can cancel or initiate an early return through My Account at gobreez.com. If someone other than the account holder needs assistance, email support@gobreez.com with the student's name, school, and order number.
